Noir City 1929: God’s Man

From Lynd Ward’s woodcut graphic novel God’s Man (1929)

  1. Yep I do know this particular woodcut, and it’s an absolute masterpiece and perhaps Ward’s most celebrated creation. A struggling artist is seduced by money and power and it eventually leads him to a new-found innocence. The style of course is expressionistic, and the lines and contrasts are striking.
