Filmsquich.com has posted an interesting review of the Akira Kurosawa noir Drunken Angel (1948) aka Yoidore Tenshi. Kurosawa’s other noir feature is the excellent High and Low (1963) aka Tengoku To Jigoku. Both movies star the uber cool Toshiro Mifune.
Filmquish has also reviewed another early Kurosawa drama as noir: Stray Dog (1949) also starring Mifune.

Hey thanks for the plug! Film Noir is quickly turning out to be one of my favorite genres, and since that review went up, Kurosawa’s Stray Dog, Fritz Lang’s M and Huston’s Beat the Devil have also been tagged with “Noir” status, though they can be far more debated as being definitive.

Tks Squish:) I will add links to M and Stray Dogs, but Beat The Devil? This great quirky movie in a genre all its own is one of my all-time favorites and deserves to be more widely known – a public domain copy is available on Retro TV.
