  1. Hi! Tony,
Every thing about this post is uber”…The screenshot! and the “uber” noirish poetry too!

By the way, I just retweeted this post twice over there on Twitter…and I plan to do the same thing on my Tumblr.
    Thanks, for sharing!

  2. Where is the picture from? Movie or just photo? Who made it? Do you have it in hi-res?

Are you a stones fan? Have you watched new documentary about making of Exiled album? Fucking great, especially all those grainy b/w stills, you can really feel that era.

And the last stupid question: What is this city on the picture?)

P.S. still the coolest blog about movies. keep rockin, bro)

  3. Tony,

Do you know anyone who has seen Mint Julep?

I watched the trailer and it had a noiresque feel to it (http://mintjulepmovie.com/)…and it claims to have Gandolfini and David Morse in it…but I have NEVER heard of it, and I am a huge Gandolf fan.

If you have heard of it, can you send me an email (or post it?) about whether it is worth buying or not?

    Thank you!

Oh, here’s the clip a friend sent me that led me to their site…pretty funny.

  4. Thanks guys.

DeeDee you are blogger’s best friend 🙂

Not stupid questions at all kilgort. I wish I could answer your queries, but the photo is one I saved from the web a while back and now I can’t recall the details – but I do remember it is a still photo from the 40s by an anonymous photographer. The ‘familiar obscurity’ prompted me to post it.I like the early Stones stuff best. I could never get into Exiles on Main Street, and have yet to see the doco – I will look out for it though.

Hi Lynds. No, I haven’t seen Mint Julep, but it looks fascinating! The trailer really gets you interested. I will have to look out for it. Thanks for the heads up!

  5. The city is Dallas, TX. A photo of the famous Majestic Theater and the Tische-Goetzinger Co. in the 1940s. Texas Noir, love it!
